O problema persiste.

Q&A

Também me ocorreu responder “Esses lindos olhos, claro”, hehe.

When a beautiful rose dies, beauty does not die”.

Antes do mundo acabar, podem ouvir esta música que estou agora a ouvir: Keep on Doing What You Do / Jerks on the Loose, das The Roches. E salvem-se!

Keep on Doing What You Do / Jerks on the Loose

The Roches

[Verse 1]

Nobody ‘round here knows what happened to you

No one will ask you to explain

You have your arm around a drastic measure

All of your efforts down the drain

[Verse 2]

There might be something here you could get into

Or just be quiet by yourself

Ooh

Stare at the stuff up on the shelf

[Chorus]

You work too hard

To take this abuse

Be on your guard

Jerks on the loose

[Bridge]

Look who did it to you

Joker over there with nothing to do

Don’t let ‘em get through

Hey, who did it to you?

Joker over there with nothing to do

Don’t let ‘em get through

Keep on doing what you do

[Verse 3]

Why don’t you listen to my little pep talk

Instead of what that person said?

And now I’m gonna open up the window

And you will come in off that ledge

[Chorus]

You work too hard

To take this abuse

Be on your guard

Jerks on the loose

Jerks on the loose

Nuvens de Chão, 2021

Nuvens de Chão (Ground Clouds) joins together images from 2020, documenting moments of isolation in the summer, with images captured last week, in a montage set to debut in this edition of Playlist.

Two plants that share the same color but are otherwise different, accidentally planted face to face. Or that they share the same silhouette at different scales, both thin and pointed. Sara finds herself unable to choose between one or the other and asks Mary-the-Super-Scientist for help. Even when this friend of hers tries to find the logical function of things, Sara and her difficult problem to solve end up giving agency to a bubble that navigates between states of water, and out of desperation, to a pet cat. The problem persists.

Q&A

The world will end and you can only save one work of art. Which would it be?

I immediately thought of the edible plants that Carla Filipe installed in São Paulo, responding from a more practical perspective, like a survival kit.

However, this question is ZERO PRACTICE..

It also occurred to me to answer “These beautiful eyes, of course”, hehe.

More… I know it doesn’t count because it’s not a work of art, but… I also thought about that phrase by Agnes Martin “When a beautiful rose dies, beauty does not die”. This phrase comes to my mind a lot, especially in moments of separation or frustration, for sure that at the end of the world it would also come to my no-longer-existent-head (??).

Then I remembered the paintings by Florine Stettheimer, they are beautiful. There is one called “The Cathedrals of Art” which represents a vision of her contemporary artistic world (1942), in that case New York, Modern Art. Stettheimer’s vision of this construction, “the world of works of art”, is very circus, silly, fictional at the same time. In fact, the expression “work of art” always makes me confused, and I feel that this painting shares some of that confusion.

Before the world ends, you can listen to this song I’m listening to now: Keep on Doing What You Do / Jerks on the Loose, by The Roches. And save yourselves!
